Are you a homeowner looking to insulate a new or existing home? Do you need information to help you in deciding which type of insulation is right for you? If you answered yes to these questions, this section is for you.
Insulation Products We Offer
At Thermo Seal Insulation Systems, we install only the best insulation available on the market today. We acknowledge that different situations sometimes call for different types of insulation. We would not recommend always using one type of insulation for your whole house if another type of insulation would perform better in a specific application. Other factors that could affect the type of home insulation services you choose could be cost, time and environmental implications.
We will never simply sell you insulation. Our sales representatives will help educate you to understand the value of our products and the process of our installation.
While there are many products on the market today, not all of them perform the same. In most cases, you get what you pay for. The old saying is true, if it seems too good to be true - it probably is.
What, Where & When to Insulate Your Home
We are known for providing quality home insulation services for Huntsville at great prices.
What to Insulate
Ontario’s building code states that you must insulate all exterior walls (including basements and crawlspaces), ceilings (including attics, cathedrals and vaulted areas), and rim joists. It is optional to insulate crawlspace floors or floor joist areas separating different levels. It is, however, a good practice to insulate all floor joists to prevent cold feet and eliminate noise from above or below.
Where to Insulate
The building code states insulation must be installed on the warm side of the building. There is, however, a growing trend to insulate on the exterior of a wall assembly. Make sure to discuss this with your local building department before doing so to make sure your proposed ratios of interior to exterior insulation are correct.
Insulation should be installed between heated and unheated spaces, between heated spaces and the exterior, on the inside or outside of foundation walls and around the perimeter of slab-on-ground, below the adjacent finished ground level. Insulation should create a single, continuous envelope around your home. For more information, view this illustration of locations requiring insulation.
When to Insulate
With new construction, insulation is installed after all plumbing and electrical inspections have been passed. That said, it’s wise to get an insulation quote as far in advance as possible, well before inspections, particularly if it’s later in the year. Fall and winter are busy seasons for Ontario insulation contractors.
There is no best time to insulate. Many people wait until the weather gets colder because they are worried about heat loss, but it's just as important to insulate during the hotter months to save money on air conditioning and lessen the strain put on cooling equipment.
If you are going for the blow-in insulation method, it is the process of filling joist cavities or attic floors with loose material that has a good insulating value.
